Cora Ellen Freeman, age 91 of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania. She was born July 11, 1926 in Toledo to Erie Cornelius and Cleo (Utterback) Williams. She was a 1944 graduate of Scott High School and a 1947 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing. She was employed at the former Parkview Hospital then worked as a registered nurse for the family practice of Dr. Kane in Temperance, Michigan. Later in life she was a guest speaker to nursing students at Lourdes College and to Adoptees' Liberty Movement Association (ALMA) groups. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening but most of all being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving is her husband of 69 years, Robert; daughters Mary (Peter) Vonu and Barbara (Richard) Drabik; grandchildren Marshal, Mason, Chelsea, Peter, Trevor and Brant; great-grandchildren Blake and Brynn; and brother James. C. Williams. Cora was preceded in death by her brother Richard E. Williams.
Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Saturday from 5-7 PM where funeral services will be held Sunday at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or The Cherry St. Mission 105 17th St, Toledo, OH 43604.
