Mary O Ackerman graduated from College Misericordia in 1950. Shortly afterward, she met the married the love of her life, Clyde on April 14, 1952. She worked as a school teacher in Nuremberg until starting her family then switched to substitute teacher working at many of the elementary through high schools in the Hazleton Area School district. She also tutored many local children over the years. As a member of the Sacred Heart -St Joseph parish in Weston and Nuremberg, she served as Sunday school teacher, lecturer, and Eucharistic minister. She had nine children: John, William, Anne, Joseph, Patrice, Kathryn, Mary Elizabeth, Charles, and Edward. She was graced with fifteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one step great-granddaughter prior to passing after a prolonged illness.
