Louis J. Rittmeyer Sr., 86, a resident of Glen Burnie for 44 years, died March 2 at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville.
Born Nov. 13, 1920, in Maryland, and the son of the late Anna and Joseph Rittmeyer, Mr. Rittmeyer served in the Navy during World War II for six years. From 1958 to 1985 he worked for the Department of Defense as a telecommunications engineer.
His interests included travel and golf.
He was the widower of Priscilla L. Rittmeyer and brother of the late Edward Rittmeyer.
Surviving are three sons, Steven L. Rittmeyer of Baltimore, Alan J. Rittmeyer of Ocean City and Louis J. Rittmeyer Jr. of Pasadena; two daughters, Linda R. Bock of Virginia and Faith A. Kramer of Pasadena; one brother, Joseph F. Rittmeyer of Texas; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, 3204 Mountain Road in Pasadena. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at the Charlestown Retirement Community, 719 Maiden Choice Lane in Catonsville. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie.
