"Mrs. Cynthia Viola Quant, wife of Miles Quant, died Saturday evening at 7 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Hughes, 7 Matthew street, Johnstown. She had been in failing health for some time and a recent stroke hastened her end. Mrs. Quant was born June 22, 1854, in Canton, St. Lawrence county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erastus Backus. She lived with her daughter only recently, the greater part of her life being spent in the town of Florida. She was a member of the First Baptist church, Amsterdam. Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Hughes, Mrs. Edwin Petteys of Sloansville and Mrs. Lawrence Going, Red Banks, N. J.; a son, Lauren Quant, town of Florida, and several grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the daughter's home in Johnstown. The Rev. Harlow W. Parsons, pastor of the First Baptist church, Johnstown, will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Grove cemetery, Tribes Hill."
