Verna I. Phillips, 94 of West Hamburg died in the Orwigsburg Center on September 12, 2017.

She was the widow of Nevin F. Phillips who died March 14, 2007.

She was born in Leacock Township, Lancaster County and was the daughter of the late Warren F. and Elsie M. (Wilhelm) Kissling.

In her earlier years Verna worked at various knitting mills as a machine operator before retiring and becoming a full time homemaker.

Verna last worked as a crossing guard in West Hamburg, which she enjoyed.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, O.E.S. Blue Mountain Chapter #443 and a former member of the Shartlesville Grange.

Verna is survived by two daughters; Beverly A. wife of Larry Kehl, Richmond Township, Faith I. wife of John Wojcik, Centre Township and one sister; Arlene widow of Clifford Breidigan, Windsor Township.

Two sisters, Margaret Rentschler and Grace Kleinsmith predeceased Verna.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM from the First United Church of Christ, 76 South Third Street, Hamburg, PA. There will be no viewing. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Hamburg.
