Valerie Locquanna Wright, 66, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in Jacksonville, Fla.

At an early age, she accepted Christ at Union Grove Baptist Church. She later joined Rising Star Baptist Church where her father was a minister and would attend New City Fellowship Church. Valerie graduated from Riverside High School Class of 1969 and matriculated to Knoxville College. She joined the Army and was a drill sergeant and received her licensure as a construction specialist.

She was preceded in death by her father, Reverend John T. Wright; grandmother; and brother.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Anna Wright; brothers, Melvin Wright of Alabama and John T. Wright, Jr. of Chattanooga; sister, Johnnie (Clyde) Crowder of Delaware; uncles, James (Glenda) Menefield and Charles Menefield of Camphill, Ala.; aunts, Meredith Stamps of San Diego, Calif., Rosa Lee (Earl) Bundy of Luray, Va., and Hazel Pettiford of NY; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives; and friends.

Lie-in-state Thursday at 10 a.m. with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. at New City Fellowship with Pastor Randy Nabors as eulogist. Burial at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
