He worked for Pocola Police for 15 years; the Walter Steele Bill is a law named after him from his police duty. He retired from Weldon Williams & Lick. Walter was a very loving and great father. He was well liked in the community. He started the Pocola Football League.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barbara Steele & Darlene Newman; brothers, Ernest Coleman & George Risinger.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years , Loretta Sue (Neighbors) Steele; 4 children, Mitchell Steele, Rocky & Sharon Steele of Pocola, Barbie Chronister of Fayetteville, AR, Misty & James Dunn of Van Buren, AR; grandchildren, Chad Steele, Nikki Woodrum, Dusty Steele, Patrick Steele, Cassie Sharum, Hogan Dunn, Seth Dunn, Sydney Chronister; 5 great grandchildren; other relatives, loved ones and friends.
Services will be 10 am, Thursday, September 14, 2017 graveside at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ft. Smith, AR. with Rev. Richard Maness officiating.
