Wolfe, Ted B., 88, died Sept. 11. Services 1 p.m. Friday, Crossings Community Church Chapel (Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, Oklahoma City).

Ted B. Wolfe "Granddaddy", age 88, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully September 11, 2017. Ted was born January 17, 1929, in Oklahoma City to the late Oma Inez Fariss Wolfe and Elvin D. "Wattie" Wolfe. A lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, he attended Putnam Heights Elementary School, Harding Junior High and Classen High School where he graduated in 1946. Ted was a member of Crossings Community Church and enjoyed attending the Tuesday Morning Men's Bible Study. After graduating from Classen High School he went to the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. While at OU he was in the ROTC and graduated with a commission of 2/LT. He worked for Black, Sivils & Bryson for six months before going into active duty at Ft. Belvoir in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Alexandria, VA. At the University of Oklahoma, he met the love of his life, Jackie Lillard. She had transferred to OU from the University of Hawaii where her father was commander of the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. They married on June 20, 1953 in Washington, D.C. and enjoyed 64 years as husband and wife. From Ft. Belvoir, Ted was transferred to the Panmonjon area of Korea. While there he built bridges and roads and some of the peace talk buildings. In January 1955 he received an honorable discharge and returned to Oklahoma City. He joined his father in the plumbing business at Wolfe Plumbing & Heating Company. At that time commercial air conditioning was just beginning. They soon started their own mechanical contracting company and named it Wattie Wolfe Company. One of Ted's avocations was flying. He earned his private pilot's license and followed that with an Instrument rating. Ted flew himself and on many occasions; his family and friends, around the country for most of his adult life. He was a member of the Oklahoma City Hangar of the QB's. After hearing Ted recount some of the adventures he had while flying, both his family and friends are very grateful that he returned to tell the tales! Ted was an active member for many years of the downtown Rotary Club, QB, Y.P.O. and the Oklahoma City Gun Club. Ted and Jackie loved traveling abroad with all their Y. P.O friends and many other trips and cruises together. He especially enjoyed fishing in Canada, Alaska and Bogota, Columbia as well as hunting in Texas, Colorado and Idaho. Because Ted's true passion was flying, once he gave up flying real airplanes, he moved onto building and flying remote controlled model airplanes. He and his co-pilot "Sue", a boxer mix, whom he rescued while flying his model airplanes out at the Harris farm, spent countless hours together... Sue truly never left his side. He also had an exceptional talent and love for making beautifully hand carved knives and soon became an avid collector. Ted loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a fun-loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ted was quite the character...never knowing what he might say next. Two of his favorite sayings that he loved to say to his children and grandchildren were..." you're my favorite" and "ILUMTULM" "I love you more than you love me". He had a great sense of humor and had so much love for his family.
Ted was preceded in his death by his parents, Elvin D. Wolfe and Oma Wolfe. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Wolfe, sister, Patsy Wolfe Miller of Orlando, Florida, son, Jim Wolfe and his wife Leslie, son, Bill Wolfe and his wife Amy, daughter, Diane Sanger and her husband Tod, granchildren; Allyson Wolfe, Chad Wolfe and his wife Sarah, Cianne Stukey and her husband Brandon, Cristen Shepherd and her husband Stephen, Sarah Wolfe, Travis Wolfe and his wife Ashley, Brittany Sanger, and Trent Sanger, and 7 ½ great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 15th at Crossings Community Church Chapel with Interment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., with family to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14th at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper.
