Steven Alan West of Durant, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the age of 64 years old. He was born on May 5, 1953 to Frank Alan West and Margaret Allene (Hartung) West in Los Angeles, California.
Steven graduated from El Segundo High School in California and came to Bryan County in 1994. He served our country in the United States Air Force and was a helicopter mechanic in the Vietnam War. He married Brenda (Horton) West in 1979 and they spent 31 wonderful years together until her passing in 2010. Steven worked in construction as a flooring contractor. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, riding his motorcycle, water skiing, snow skiing, riding motorcycles, traveling, camping, politics, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Brenda West, his parents Alan and Allene West, and sister Teri West.
Survivors include, one son Billy West and wife Sunshine of Sherman, TX; two daughters, Sommer (West) Sibley and husband John of Durant, OK; Shannon (West) Strouse and husband Scott of Torrance, CA; grandchildren, Alexa West, Brenna Strouse, Olivia West, Jayson Hauschild, Kailey West, Keaton West, and Kinsleigh West; and one brother, Doug West and wife Ashley along with many other family members and dear friends.
A celebration of life for Steven will be held at a later date.
