Clifford Earl Porter, Jr., 83, passed away September 7, 2017, at the George Wahlen Veterans Home of natural causes. Clifford was born December 3, 1933, to Cliff and Ilene Porter in Ogden, Utah. Clifford attended school in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Weber High School. He married Carol Lee Cairns.

Clifford worked for the Union Pacific Railroad before enlisting in the U.S. Navy at the end of the Korean War. Dad entered the Navy's Nuclear Power Program and served on 5 submarines, 1 surface ship and the Bureau of Naval Personnel selecting "nuke" crews.

Dad was active in Boy Scouts of America, earning his Silver Beaver. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many different callings. Dad served over 20 years in the Navy. Dad was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1481, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 185 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1079.

Clifford is survived his sister Pat Dye; children Robert (Mary) Porter, Teresa (Ron) McCoy, Clifford (Tina) Porter, Dave Porter and Mike Young, Joseph (Jaunett) Porter, Timothy (Vicky) Porter, James (Jessica) Porter; 36 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren;

Clifford is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; brother Lee Bradley; and sister, Sally.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 – 36th St., Ogden, Utah. There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 14, 2017, from 6 – 8 pm at the Mortuary and 1 hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.
Interment at Washington Heights Memorial Park with full Military Honors.
