Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, James Oliver Hazeldine, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

He was born in Brigham City, Utah on July 16, 1944, to Lee Oliver Hazeldine and Mary Neilsen. He attended schools in both Brigham and Bountiful before graduating from Davis High School.

In 1965, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Rosalie Parker. They have one son, four granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren.

James followed in his father’s footsteps and worked for the telephone company where he helped develop the Blue Stakes Call Line. After 23 years of loyal service, James retired as supervisor of buried cable and fiber optics. He then began a second, 10 year career as building maintenance for Saint Marks Gardens in Kaysville, Ogden and Brigham.

James had a special love for fishing and annual trips to Disneyland with his family. He is remembered as a loving family man, avid traveler, and an enthusiast of fine arts and music. James had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and held many church positions. He was especially proud of his position as activities coordinator and working at the mill.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; son, Chad; grandchildren: Chantelle (Lindy Scheeler), Tiffany (Jeremy Vnuk), Jennifer Hazeldine and Jessica Hazeldine; brothers: Thomas Lee Hazeldine and Michael Lynn Hazeldine (Marny); nephews: Brian, Zachary, Riley and Thomas; and great-grandchildren: Avy and Jackson James.

Graveside services will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Salt Lake City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the LDS Missionary Fund, or charity of your choice.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
