George W. Finley, 82, of Hardin, MO died unexpectedly on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, MO. George was born on February 13, 1935 in Braymer, MO the son of Harvey S. and Ruby M. (McNelly) Finley. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Hardin of Carrollton, MO on April 26, 1962; she survives of the home. Additional survivors include: two daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Larry Abbott of Richmond and Jacqueline and Kevin Duffett of Richmond, three brothers: Alva Finley of Excelsior Springs, MO, Otto Finley and his friend Penny Buckner of Norborne, MO and John and Barbara Finley of Norborne; one sister, Mary Sue Willis and her friend Eugene McWilliams of Carrollton, MO; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Karla Utley, two brothers- in-law, Jack Hardin and Bob Willis and one grandson Christopher Utley. George worked as a mechanic at Ray County Implement for 25 years. He then worked for Ray County Road District for 15 years. He also farmed with his brother, John. He lived most of his life in the Hardin and Stet area. He attended the Bethany Church of the Brethren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was United States Army Veteran. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, North of Hardin with Military Honors provided by the Ray County Veterans.
