She was born Aug. 9, 1911 in the town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, a daughter of the late August and Helen (Schneider) Schreiber. Linda attended Schwarzwald School in the town of Herman. Linda Schreiber and Lester Luebke were united in marriage on Dec. 28, 1929, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Schwarzwald. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2001, after 71 years of marriage. The couple farmed in the town of Newton for 10 years, moving to the county line where they farmed until 1969. Linda was active in the Women's Farm Bureau and was part of the Associated Country Women of the World, attending two tri-annual conventions, one of which was in Oslo, Norway. She was a member of the Newtonburg and Spring Corners homemakers groups and the Franklin American Legion Auxiliary.
Linda is survived by six sons: Henry (Myra) of town Newton; Harold (Ann) of Valders; Alfred (Naomi) of Town Meeme; Roy of Manitowoc; Wayne of Green Bay; and David (Julianne) of town of Newton; two daughters: Lila Vogt of Manitowoc; and Loretta (Alvin) Kracht of town of Meeme. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren: 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Reinke of Sheboygan; one sister-in-law: Ida Luebke of Manitowoc; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives. Linda was also preceded in death by one grandson: Jeffrey Vogt; a great-great-grandson: Austin Getter; a son-in-law: Arland Vogt; three brothers and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held for Linda on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Schwarzwald, Orchard Road, town of Herman. Rev. Rebecca A. Johnston, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Zimmer's Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center, Garton Road, Hwy. 42 and County JJ, Sheboygan, on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
A memorial fund has been established to St. John's U.C.C. Church addition in the name of Linda H. Luebke.
