Born in Nashville, TN on September 19, 1947
Departed on September 8, 2017 and resided in Thompson Station, TN
Judy D. Sowell, of Thompson’s Station, passed away September 8, 2017, just days before her 70th birthday, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She was born September 19, 1947 in Nashville and was the oldest of three daughters born to Ernest Emory Beard and Viola Gower Beard.
Judy will be remembered in many ways. Her family recounted several attributes such as, “vibrant, caring and generous.” Often for no reason at all she would take lunch to her nurses or doctors. When she saw you it was almost for certain that a hug would follow.
She enjoyed camping, shopping, dining out with family and friends and travelling, especially in the Smokies, at Panama City, or along the Natchez Trace. When she was at home her greatest joy was being with her family, adoring her grandchildren!
Judy is survived by her husband of 46 years: Raymond Sowell; two daughters: Julie (Pete) Gossett and Patricia (Chris) Giles; 5 grandchildren: Corey Michael Dudley, Matthew Allen Dudley, Dalton Clay Williams, Andrew Brice Dudley and John Tyler Giles; and two sisters: Brenda Crutcher and Pam Scott.
Interment in the Chapel Hill Garden of Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
