Mr. Robert Bernard Blackman, 87, of Sampson County, died Saturday, September 9th.

Mr. Blackman, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late Alton Bernard Blackman and Bertle Almeta West Blackman and the widower of Estelle Parker Blackman. He was also preceded in death by three children, Karen Blackman, Powell Blackman and Robert Bernard Blackman, Jr.

On February 5, 1949 he took his bride, Estelle Parker Blackman, to establish their home and farm in Sampson County. During their 56 years of Marriage they were blessed with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

During his 87 years, his hard work produced bumper crops and countless turkeys, but more importantly his dedication earned the respect of all who knew him exemplifying Titus 2:7-8 "Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned."

He is survived by his children, Philip Balckman and Denise Sorrell; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, Janice Keen; three brothers, Donald, Doug, and Charlie Blackman.

"On the eight day, God looked down on his paradise and decided He needed a care taker so He made a farmer."
