James Roland Perry, 92, of Keswick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Born on April 16, 1925, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Imogene Diers Perry and Leslie Vail Perry.

He was also predeceased by his two sisters, Anna Jackson and Marjorie Storey.

Mr. Perry served as a Navy Corpsman who was attached to the Marine Corps in World War II in the Pacific (Saipan). After being wounded and awarded the Purple Heart for his service, he graduated from UVA with a Bachelor's Degree in 1950. His career as Director of Governmental and Hospital Sales with UpJohn Pharmaceuticals spanned many years. He was a devoted husband and father, active in his church and a choir director for 30 years.

Roland is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sue J. Perry; their two daughters, Karen Kertsos and her husband, Bill, and Brenda Perry; three grandchildren, Kristen Kertsos, Lisa Kertsos and husband, Adam Noll, and Jennifer Kertsos; and a great-grandchild, William Noll. Many other family members and friends also survive him.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at First Baptist Church on with the Rev. Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 www.hopva.org or to First Baptist Church, Park Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
