Sgt. John 'Mike' Romer Jr. passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017. He was 50.
Mike was a resident of Croydon for the last 42 years. He served his country faithfully for 23 years. After completing his active duty for four years, one of which he served in Seoul, Korea with the 82nd Airborne Brigade, he went on to join the Army Reserves and was in the Gulf War. He then rejoined the Pa. National Guard to serve in the Iraq War and continued to be in the National Guard. He was a soldier of many honors.
Mike started for Bishop Egan High School football and was an All-City first team member on offense and defense. He went on to play one year at Delaware Valley and played with the Bristol Rough Touch League for many years. He loved driving his Harley and proudly drove his dad's Peterbilt, learning the family business.
Mike will be deeply missed by his mother, Mary C. McGovern, and his father and step mother, John M. Sr. and Mary Ann Romer. He was the beloved brother of Greg Romer and Jeremy Romer (Deanna), and also is survived by three half sisters, one step-sister, one step brother, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service from 10 a.m. until the Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 601 Bristol Pike, Croydon, PA 19021. Interment will be held in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
