Mary Ellen Frances Kilzer, 87, of Brownstown, died at 12:40 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017 at Fayette County Hospital, Long Term Care.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown with Rev. Jerry Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care Activity Fund, Holy Cross Radio Ministry, or Shriner’s Hospital.

Mary was born on Tuesday, February 4, 1930 in rural Fayette County, IL to Albert and Dora (Zimmer) Abendroth. She married Jack Edward Kilzer on September 14, 1957 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1989. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia and the Golden Years Club, Brownstown. She had been a homemaker and a cook through the years at Ray and Opal’s Cafe, Ed’s Café and Joyce’s Café, all in Brownstown.

She is survived by: her son, Dennis (Stephanie) Kilzer of Brownstown, and granddaughter, Kameron (Greggary) Eaker.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by; a son; daughter; brothers, Marvin, Earl, Raymond, Orville, Bill and Kenny and 1 in infancy and sisters, Marlene, Sophia, Freada, Velma, Elna, and 2 in infancy.
