Paul Max Ware was born in Dinuba, California. He died in Fresno, California where he had lived most of his life.

Paul grew up in Dinuba and graduated in 1958 from Dinuba High School where he excelled in sports, especially football and baseball. To many close friends and family, Paul was known as "Babe".

After college, Paul began a very successful career in business finance which started in the early 1960's when Mildred Huddleston hired him to work for Guarantee Savings & Loan. Paul remained with the same company for more than 35 years, through the many years of transitions and mergers, until his retirement as Sr. Vice President.

In 1972, Paul accepted an opportunity to transfer to Stockton, California to establish a branch office for Guarantee. During the Stockton years, Paul and his family made many lifelong friends.

Paul also enjoyed being active in many service organizations. He was a member of the Stockton Golf & Country Club where he spent many hours playing the frustrating game that he loved so much.

After returning to Fresno with his family, whenever time permitted, Paul continued his golf game and was a member in Fresno of Fort Washington and Sunnyside Country Clubs, as well as Kings River Golf and Country Club in Kingsburg, California. He became quite an accomplished golfer, winning several tournaments and even hitting four "holes in one", the first one at Sunnyside and three more at Kings River. Even winning the California Lottery did not prevent him from arriving early for his scheduled tee time. Before turning in his winning ticket, he drove to Kings River to play his usual round of golf with his buddies.

Archeology was also among Paul's many interests, as well as race car events mainly sprint cars and Indy cars. In earlier years, he loved attending races with his family and close friends.

Among his numerous friends, Paul was especially blessed to have Don Hodges in his life who was his lifelong best friend. They grew up as cousins, but were more like brothers. As much as they loved to compete in sports, there was never a time in their lives when they were not there for each other.

Paul died of pancreatic cancer and the family wishes to thank Nancy Hinds Hospice and San Joaquin Gardens for their care and compassion.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Paula Michelle "Shelly" Gier and her husband Troy of South Lake Tahoe, California; his son, Garrett Paul Ware of Fresno; and his only grandchild, Garrett's daughter Kaley, who was the light of his life.

He is also survived by his brother, Harold Ware of Fresno who was an extremely helpful and caring companion during Paul's illness; his sister, Joan Gapen and her husband Richard of Paso Robles, California; his late brother Lindy's wife, Kathy Ware of Fresno; and many nieces and nephews, as well as Pauline and Lambert Erickson who were there to provide his favorite meals, as well as love and encouragement.

Paul and Pauline shared the same birthday, May 11th, and enjoyed celebrating the occasion with family for many years.

At Paul's specific request, there will be no public service or memorial.
