Jerry was a 1955 graduate of M.S.U. He served in the U.S. Navy for many years and in the Korea Conflict. He retired in 1984 from the State of Michigan after working in several divisions during his distinguished career.
He was a proud charter member of St. Gerard Church. He was a devoted fan of M.S.U. sports.
Jerry is survived by his 4 sons, Michael Jeffrey (Joanne) Bennett, David Patrick Bennett, John Douglas (Cheryl) Bennett, and Thomas Miller Bennett, his 4 grandchildren Nicole Patrice Bennett, Michael Jerome Bennett, Jacob Patrick Bennett, and Matthew (Katherine) Barrix.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marcia Jean 2015; son, Robert Christopher Bennett 2008; grandson, Kyle Richard Bennett 2007, and his parents, Thomas and Lenore Bennett; brother, Robert Bennett; 2 sisters, Dolores Wendel and Barbara Hixson.
The Rosary was held in the Tiffany Funeral Home Lansing. Funeral Liturgy was Thursday, September 14, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lansing with Fr. John P. Klein presiding. Rite of committal was at St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the owners, Barbara and Joseph Frazier, and all the wonderful staff at Fairview for their loving care of Jerry.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Gerard Catholic Church in memory of Jerry.
