"D.C." was the son of Hattie Lenora Bell and William Bembry. He was educated in the Elizabeth City, North Carolina and New York City School Systems. He served 10 years in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and was in pursuit of his Doctorate in Theology. He was Ordained into the Ministry in Elizabeth City at 15 years of age, after receiving the Calling at age 13. He then returned to New York City to Pastor at age 16 at the Olive Branch Baptist Church. Upon moving to Georgia, he pastored several Churches, including Martha Ann Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia. At the time of his death, he was Pastor of Second Salem Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia and Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hawkinsville, Georgia. Pastor Bell was a renowned singer and had recorded several cds.


Bell was married to Karen Bell. After that marriage ended, he married Cynthia Kendrick Bell, they remained married for 26 years until his passing.

Wife: Cynthia Bell.
4 Daughters: Angelica Martin, Tasha Bell, Darlene Bell and Jasmine Bell.
1 Son: Tyree Bell.
Mother-In-Law: Greenie Kendrick.
1 Uncle: Javon Brothers(Clara).
2 Aunts: Louise Griffin(Hubert) and Gennie Talley.
2 Devoted Cousins: Evelyn Childs and Janet Stripling.
A Devoted Friend: Susan King.
4 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild.

Services were held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 1PM in the Sanctuary of New Hope Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia with Rev David Thomas officiating.
