OBITUARY

Rudolph Harris, entered this world on October 12, 194l in Wendell, N.C. He was the son of the late Willie Harris and Henrietta Ferrell Harris and brother to the late Mary Deneice Carpenter. Our faithful soldier transitioned to his heavenly home September 8, 2017 at Duke University Hospital.

Rudolph graduated from the former James E. Shepard High School in Zebulon, NC in 1959 and later attended the former North Carolina College in Durham, NC; and the former St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, NC where he majored in Commerical Arts. He served faithfully in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1966.

Rudolph joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. George Stokes. As a youth, he was a member of the Youth Choir and Ushers Ministry. He served as Sunday School Secretary and later served on the finance and trustee minisgtry. Rudolph loved his church and remained active even as his health declined.

He served on the Wendell Planning Boarde for two years.

He was employed with Hi-Cone(ITW)for twenty six years. Rudolph served as shift supervisor until he retired in 1966.

After retirement Rudolph became a "Jack of all trades": a farmer, barber, carpenter, auto mehanic, auto body repairman, car salesman, and restorer of old cars. He was a member of the Capital City Cruisers Car Club, the American Legion Wendell Post 148, and the James E. Shepard Alumni Association. His favorite pastimes were riding his motorcycle and playing horseshoes.

Rudolph never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking and meeting people. If he could help you in anyway, he would.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his high school sweetheart and wife, Natalie High Harris; a son, Gregory L. Harris, Sr.(Karlita); a daughter, Natasha R. Holden(Kelby); one granddaughter,Gizelle L. Harris; one grandson, Gregroy L.
