Kim Patrice Love passed away on September 2, 2017.  She was 62 years old; born on May 2, 1955 in Kansas City, Kansas to Leon Gaskin and Jacquelyn Owens (Riley).  Kim attended Kansas City, Kansas public schools and graduated from Sumner High School in 1973.  Married to Dequince Atkinson, Sr in 1976; from this union came Shawn Atkinson.  Later remarried to Richard Hughes in 1978 and from this union came Patrick Hughes.
All who knew Kim Patrice knew she had a great sense of humor, could be your biggest cheerleader and loved entertaining the company of family and friends.  She was not at all shy about speaking her mind, but loved you just the same.  Until no longer able, Kim enjoyed going to church, reading her bible, cross word puzzles, watching world ministries/home shopping networks, cooking, gardening, going to the movies, eating out, antique shopping and exploring new decorating ideas.  Most importantly, Kim was known by all to be a woman of strong faith.  Without hesitation she shared her beliefs, believed in the unseen and knew the Most High God sent His Son as her personal Savior.
Kim worked for the United States Postal Service before suffering a back injury.  Before becoming a homemaker, Kim earned a degree in nursing and worked in the medical field.
Kim was preceded in death by her mother Jacquelyn Owens.
Kim is survived by her father, Leon Gaskin; her sons, Shawn Atkinson (Desirae); and Patrick Hughes (his children); her grandchildren, Jason; Genessa; and Aviana; her brothers, Leon Gaskin, Jr. (Rose Mary); and Brett Hobbs (Stephanie); her sisters, Darcus Gates (George); and Monique Authorlee (Willis); several nephews, nieces, aunts, and cousins.
