Edward and Catherine's son, Thomas Aspinwall Brewer, moved to Georgia, where he and his daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Brewer Benson, knew and socialized with Emmie's family.

EMMIE DeLAUNAY NISBET
Emmie de Launay Nisbet was given the middle name Mildred in honor of her grandmother Mildred – Mildred Scott "Millie or Millcie" Stubbs White, wife of
Major Edward White, who last was a resident of Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia.

Mrs. Edward White (Mildred Scott Stubbs) was from Louisville, Georgia. She was the daughter of Mary Eliza Scott, sister of General John Scott, and Revolutionary veteran James Stubbs. Mildred Scott Stubbs White is frequently described as being "the niece of General Scott".

WHITE FAMILY
Emmie's grandfather, Major Edward White of Savannah, was originally from Brookline, Massachusetts. His parents were Elizabeth Aspinwall and Captain Benjamin White of Brookline. Elizabeth was the daughter of Johanna Gardner and Lt. Thomas Aspinwall, also of Brookline, Massachusetts.

ASPINWALL FAMILY
Lt. Thomas Aspinwall and his family lived in the house built by his grandfather, Peter Aspinwall.

Lt. Thomas Aspinwall was a strong supporter of the Patriot cause who died just before the military campaigns of the American Revolution were begun. He was the son of Sarah Stevens and Captain Samuel Aspinwall. Sarah Stevens Aspinwall was the aunt of Mary Stevens Warren, wife of Joseph and mother of Revolutionary patriot General Dr. Joseph Warren. It is noted in several historical essays that Dr. Joseph Warren is cousin and friend to Dr. William Aspinwall and Lt. Col. Thomas Aspinwall of the Revolution. They were in fact second cousins. William and Thomas Aspinwall had two brothers, Caleb Aspinwall and Samuel Aspinwall, both of whom died before the American Revolution was begun. Caleb had married Hannah Hastings, who along with her second husband is related to the Aspinwall family by way of Weld, Winchester, White, Seaver, Brewer, Hyde, and other intermarriages in the wider family circle. Samuel Aspinwall's first wife was Sybil Sparhawk Aspinwall, whose sister LucySparhawk Aspinwall was married to Samuel's brother Lt. Col. Thomas Aspinwall. Lt. Col. Thomas Aspinwall, son of Lt. Thomas and Johanna Gardner Aspinwall, is grandfather of Thomas Aspinwall Brewer of Vineville, (Macon), Bibb County, Georgia .

Elizabeth Aspinwall, also second cousin to General Dr. Joseph Warren, was the mother of Edward White. Her husband Captain Benjamin White was the sister of Susannah White Brewer, and son of the earlier Major Edward White and his wife Hannah Wiswall White. The earlier Edward White was the brother of Ann White Boylston, grandmother of President John Adams by way of her daughter Susannah Boylston Adams. Ann White Boylston was the aunt of Susannah White Brewer (Stephen Brewer, grandparents of Thomas Aspinwall Brewer of Vineville, Macon, Georgia). Ann White Boylston was also the aunt of Captain Benjamin White (Elizabeth Aspinwall).

GEORGIA
The Edward who moved to Georgia, also called Major Edward White, was the father of Maria Susannah "Susan" White de Launay and Dr. B. A. White. Note that Maria Susannah White de Launay is actually named for Susannah Cogswell White, as are several other descendants of Benjamin and Susannah Cogswell White. Susan is the shortened and more modern form, and apparently the form she preferred, but her name was Susannah.

As a young man Edward White came to Georgia, where he subsequently met Mildred Scott Stubbs. They went to his hometown of Brookline, Massachusetts, to be married in a festive and grand celebratory manner, then returned to Georgia where they made their home in Savannah.

MILDRED SCOTT STUBBS WHITE

Mildred Scott Stubbs White died in Milledgeville on 23 July 1825, seven months after the Marquis de Lafayette's visit. Her headstone is now partially illegible, but originally read: Sacred to the memory of Mrs. Mildred Scott, relict of Maj. Edward White. She died after a long and excruciating illness with that composure which results from a consciousness of a well-spent life. (According to: Allen, Mrs. Henry Dawson, Sr. Index of Milledgeville City Cemetery. Compiled by Milledgeville Town Committee, Georgia Society, Colonial Dames of America, 1938, p. 103.
