PRISONER OF WAR MEDAL

Veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Commander, United States Navy. Career included three fleet tours attached to squadrons onboard the USS Saratoga and USS Yorktown.

On February 1, 1942, he was ordered to attack Jaluit Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Two planes werer lost in battle and six crewmen were captured and sent to prisoner of war camps in Zentsuji, Shikoku Islands. Japan. Cdr Fosha was repatriated in August of 1945.

Recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Navy Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, American Campaign Medal and World War Victory medals and ribbons. In March of 1946, President Truman awarded CDR Fosha the Navy and Marine Corp Medal for heroism during captivity.

Graduate of the University of Colorado and University of West Florida. Preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Edna Owens Fosha on May 7, 2003.
