Sharon, Vt. — Matthew C. Porter, 35, died unexpectedly at his home in Sharon on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1979, in Randolph, Vt. the son of David and Valerie Porter. Matthew was a Vermont resident all his life, he was a skilled carpenter, a loving father and a devoted partner and friend. He had a gift for bringing humor into any situation.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Porter Jr. of Sharon; his loving partner of seven years, Malissa “Missy” Perkins of Sharon; his father, David Porter of Saco, Maine; four brothers, John Huntley, Tom Malcher, Kevin Drury all of Bethel, Vt. and Joey Rondini of Florida; four sisters, Kimberly Nolan of N.Y., Danielle Rondini of Florida, Brandie Porter of Randolph, Vt. and Christina Garceau of Springfield, Vt.; two close friends, Scot and Marko and nieces, nephews and cousins. Matthew was loved by Missy’s family dearly, forever and always.

He was predeceased by his mother, Valerie Porter; his maternal grandparents, Florence and Stanley Malcher and his paternal grandparents, Cricket and David Porter.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT RT 110 in Chelsea, Vt. The burial will be held privately. A Celebration of Life gathering (which includes pot-luck) will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at 4 p.m. at the Tunbridge Recreation Field in Tunbridge, Vt.
