Nelda Holm Adams, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sept. 7, 2017, surrounded by family. She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Nelda was born July 13, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Carl Paul Theophilus Holm and Zula Wilcox Holm. She grew up and attended schools in Roberts, Idaho Falls and Provo, graduating from BYU High School. She also attended Ricks College.
On May 4, 1950, she married Richard Norman Adams in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with seven children, Paul, Greg, Eric, Lindy, Kelly, Brett and Jody. Nelda and Richard made their home in Idaho Falls, where Nelda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Nelda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings and served a family history mission in Salt Lake City. She loved serving others and was a pink lady at the LDS Hospital. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines and Sounds Choir. She was a member of Republican Women and received many honorary awards for her service. She was also involved in the Republican Precinct Committee. Her love for her country was reflected by her activity in political events.
Nelda is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Richard Adams of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Paul (Renee) Adams of Meridian, Idaho; son, Greg (Alisha) Adams of Visalia, California; son, Eric (Cheri) Adams, currently serving as a mission president in El Salvador; daughter, Lindy (Tom) Romrell of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Kelly (Angie) Adams of Sandy, Utah; son, Brett (Karen) Adams of Bend, Oregon; daughter, Jody (Kevin) Stanger of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister, Veneta Gustaveson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister, Ronda Lou (Dick) Groberg of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 28 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marna Adams; brothers, Carl "Bud," Claren and Del Ray Holm; and grandson, Thomas J. Romrell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Idaho Falls LDS Crestwood Ward, 1925 E. 49th S., with Bishop Jared Thompson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
