Nelva Jane Higgs was born October 18, 1934 to her parents A.L. Powell and Elizabeth Hale Powell in Mills County, Texas. She died September 6, 2017 in Denton, Texas at the age of 82. She was a graduate of Denton high school. She was a member of First Baptist church of Sanger, Wednesday Study Club and WMU. She was married to Carl Ray Higgs on June 1, 1952 in Bartonville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ernest Powell and one son Rusty Higgs who died on June 14, 1979. Survivors are her husband Carl Ray Higgs, her daughter in law Tammy Armstrong and husband Jack, sister Nancy Garner of Dallas, Grandchildren Stephanie Fancher of Sanger, Kristen Myers of Denton, and Whitney Clifton of Richardson, and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held September 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Sanger Texas. Burial was at Sanger Cemetery. Officiated by Pastor Grant Bowles, assisted by DR. E.L. McNeal.
