Julia Reed, 94, of Longmeadow died Saturday. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she attended school in Holyoke before attending Smith College, graduating in 1941. During World War II, she worked for IBM. She lived in Springfield after the war, moved to Concord, New Hampshire, before moving to Longmeadow in 1951, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She taught information technology and programming at various institutions in the Springfield area, later working for Aetna Insurance in Hartford as a systems analyst. She was named Longmeadow's Citizen of the Year in 2006.
