Also surviving are seven children, Richard Newsome of Coldwater, MI, Matthew (Brittney) Newsome of Continental, Bonnie (Eric) Logan of Melrose, Loretta Baltrip of Defiance, Rachel Newsome of Continental, Carrie (Nate) Armstrong of Defiance, and Erica Brown of Defiance; thirty-two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Wayne (Shelley) Newsome and Alan (Wilma) Newsome both of Oakwood, Stanley Newsome of Melrose, Raymond (Della) Newsome of Argillite, KY, John (Monica) Newsome of Continental; and three sisters, Mary Newsome of Continental, Jackie (Waylon) Hunter of Pineville, KY and Peggy Newsome of Continental. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents; nephew, Wayne "Fred" Newsome, Jr.; a great-niece, Aubree Hunter; brother-in-law, Paul Bays; and his mother-in-law, Linda Lytle.
Richard was a member of Pleasant View Missionary Church. He liked hunting for arrowheads and making canes.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2017 at Continental Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made to John Newsome or Peggy Newsome c/o Huntington Bank.
