Former Bloomington city council member and Minnesota state representative died peacefully on September 7, 2017 at the age of 87. A native of Hollywood Township Mark was born April 24, 1930. Mark grew up in Winsted, Minnesota and resided in Bloomington since 1959. Mark's long public service career began when he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 where he served as an air traffic controller in Saudi Arabia during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge Mark began his 36-year career with International Harvester, as a warehouseman and later President of United Auto Workers (UAW) Local #763. He won election to the Bloomington city council in 1979 and was re-elected three times. Mark also served as a member of the Bloomington Port Authority (1982-92) and the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission (1983-85). In 1992, Mark was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives representing east Bloomington and southeast Richfield (40-A). He won re-election in 1994 and 1996.
