Gail A. Rogers, 79, of La Porte, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. Gail was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Chicago, to Glen A. and Eunice E. (McLoughlin) Tracy. On Nov. 18, 1961, Gail married John O. Rogers who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 2013.
Gail is survived by her sons, Thomas Rogers of Chicago, Illinois, Steven “Casey” (Anita) Rogers of Noblesville, Indiana, Michael “Mickey” (Mike Barclay) Rogers of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Olivia Rogers; a sister, Janet (Neptali) Villasmil of Lake Worth, Florida; a brother, Glen A. (Diane) Tracy of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Gail was an elementary school teacher in the La Porte community school system, having taught at Park, Stillwell, and Riley schools. She also taught at St. Peter Catholic School. Gail graduated from Ball State Teachers College and Purdue University with a Masters in Education. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, served on the parish council, belonged to the St. Theresa Circle, and participated in the choir.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Ave., La Porte, Indiana. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church in La Porte. Interment will be at a later date.
