Catherine Marie Harrison, 92, was born November 30, 1924 and departed this life on August 31st, 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina where she resided.
She was born in Greenville, SC to the late Frank and Dora Williams. She was known to many friends and family by “Marie.”
She was the oldest daughter of the nine Williams children. She was educated in the Asheville and Buncombe County School Systems and graduated from Stephens-Lee High School. Baptized; a member of Nazareth First Baptist. She was previously married to Willie Harrison of Asheville NC.
In the late 1950s, she moved to Hartford Connecticut where her brother Frank Williams Jr. and sister Carneice Roane resided. Throughout her life Catherine was employed as a housekeeper and nanny. She relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2012 with her daughter and son in-law Anna and Guy Jacobs.
Catherine loved spending time with her family and also had a love for reading, and traveling. Always sharply dressed in stylish outfits, she was known to be a fashionista. She was a member of a social club that hosted fish fry’s, gaming nights and family get-togethers.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Frank and Dora Williams and siblings Frank Williams Jr., Carneice Roane, Rosa Koon, James Williams, Mary Luckett, Katie Giles, Betty King, and David Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Anna (Guy) Jacobs and Lisa (Jimmy) Archie, both of Charlotte, NC. Seven grandchildren: Valerie Thomas, Jackie Christopher Douglas, Deneisha Adams, Elroy Adams, Rhianna Moncrief, Romeo Smith, and Shania Archie. Ten great grandchildren: JayCee Douglas, Ruthie Douglas, Jada Douglas, Jackie Douglas, Zoei Douglas, Latrail Kerr, Rainy Engram, Adonis Davis, Nevaeh Adams and Zayne Friel. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
The Funeral Services for Mrs. Harrison will be held on Saturday September 9th, 5pm at Hart Funeral Services, 60 Phifer St Asheville, NC 28801. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset Cemetery.
