Judith Lynn Evans Bishop passed away on September 5, 2017, in Gulfport. Judy was born in Hazlehurst, MS, on September 12, 1940 to Bill and Christine Evans.

After graduating from Hazlehurst High School in 1958, she attended the University of Southern Mississippi before marrying her high school sweetheart, Dr. Ray Bishop, who predeceased her. Judy taught and directed the preschool at Trinity UMC for over thirty years. She loved shaping the lives of the many children who came under her care and watching them grow up to have children of their own. When she retired, she continued to serve children as a volunteer tutor at Central Elementary. Last year she was honored as Parent of the Year for the Gulfport School District due to her work at Central Elementary in the BOOST program. As an active member of the Civic League of Gulfport, she worked tirelessly on projects in our community to help children and adults with disabilities. She was a life member and past president of Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport. She was an active and faithful member of Trinity UMC for fifty-one years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Greg Bishop (Niki) of Atlanta, GA, and her daughter, Regina B. Stewart (Brandon) of Gulfport; her grandchildren, Evans and Olivia of Atlanta and Timothy and Lucy of Gulfport. She is also survived by her sister, Cathy E. Crush (Harvey) of Gulfport; her sister-in-law, Nancy B. Lee (Leslie) of Brandon, MS; and her nieces and nephew, Lyndsey Imbert, Chad Lee, and Amanda Lee. Judy also leaves behind many dear friends.
