SHANNON O HOOVER, 92, of 6287 Findley Road, Mercersburg, died Sunday morning in the Chambersburg Hospital where he had been a patient for six days.
He was born Dec. 9, 1886, in Church Hill, son of the late Samuel and Fannie (Lemaster) Hoover. His wife, Florence (Miller) Hoover, died in 1976. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lemasters, and was an Army veteran of World War I.
Before his retirement, Hoover worked for 35 years a groundskeeper at Mercersburg Academy.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Eileen Crawford, Mercersburg, a son, Harold G Hoover, Mercersburg, and three grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m in the Lininger Funeral Home, Mercersburg, conducted by the Rev Baron L. Ashfield and the Rev John T Peace. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service Wednesday.
