Ethan spent most of his childhood enjoying the outdoors of his beloved Oklahoma. He graduated from Red Oak High School in Red Oak, OK in 1953, and enlisted in the US Air Force in 1954. He was stationed in both Texas and Missouri during the Korean Conflict, and while at Whiteman Air Force Base in Johnson County, Missouri, met the love of his life, Darlene Kreisel. Ethan was honorably discharged from the Air Force in September of 1958, and he and Darlene were married on October 28, 1958, in Reno, NV. They made their home in Lodi, California where both girls were born. Ethan worked for Holz Rubber, Lodi Iron Works and finally, retired from General Mills with more than twenty years of service, in 1996.
Being a grandfather was the greatest joy of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with his five grandchildren. Ethan also loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and hunting with any family member or friend he could convince to join him well before the sun rose, all seasons of the year.
Ethan was preceded in death by his wife Darlene Kuykendall and parents Faye and Ethan Lee Kuykendall. He is survived by his daughters; grandchildren; brother; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 10 am in the Garden of Freedom at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi, CA. Private interment will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Ethan's name to your favorite soldier support charity.
