He was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Scotland County, son of James and Sarah Jackson Williams.
Elbert worked at Coca-Cola for 34 years and also was a truck driver for his son's logging company. Mr. Williams was a wonderful husband and father; he was a wonderful neighbor and friend. A fun-loving man that enjoyed telling jokes and was also a great storyteller. He will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Williams; and sister, Annette McDaniels. Survivors include his wife Margarita Carpenter Williams of the home; daughter, Alicia Butler of Hamlet; son, Elbert "Franklin" Williams of Bishopville, South Carolina; sisters, Doris Locklear of Laurinburg, Sylvia Moody of Rockingham, Emma Mae Williams of Rockingham; grandchildren, Neal Butler and Lillian Anne Williams; step-grandchildren, Case Lewis and Brittany Craig; and numerous nieces and nephews.
