Services were held Oct. 12 at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Alexandria for Joel Moe, 73, a former Redwood Falls resident, who died Thursday, Oct. 6, 1988 at Douglas County Hospital. Rev. Lyndon Schendel officiated, Richard Osterberg sang and Jeanne Amundson was organist.
Pallbearers were Ray Hopkins, Martin Knudson, Oliver Semmens, Elroy Froemming, Alton Carlson and Odell Martin. Interment, with military honors, was in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens south of Redwood Falls.
Joel Moe was born May 22, 1915 in North Dakota, a son of Edwin O. and Oline Olstad Moe. He graduated from high school in Galesburg, N.D., and Concordia College in Moorhead. He taught at Harwood, N.D., prior to serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.
His marriage to Joyce Tang took place Dec. 17, 1948. He was an insurance agent and district manager in Montevideo, Redwood Falls and Alexandria before retiring in 1980.
Survivors include his wife at Alexandria; a sister, Anne Adam of Merced, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
