Charles was the son of Markus and Josephine (Moore) Chase. He had an older brother Walter.
He married Maude A. Wilson on 12 May 1910 in Fort Dodge. She was the daughter of Robert and Harriet Wilson. He was a mason and plasterer. They had three children:
1. Harold LeRoy, born Feb. 19, 1911 in Varina, IA
2. Marjorie, born Jul. 9, 1915
3. Donald, born about 1924
By 1930 they lived in Ames.
