Margie Nell Sanders

(August 16, 1949 - August 26, 2017)

Sister Margie Nell Williams Sanders was born on August 16, 1949 in Galveston, Texas to her loving parents, Lola Mae Williams Hackney and Jimmie Arthur.

She received her formal education from the Galveston Independent School District graduating from Central High School class of 1967. She went on to attend the Prairie View A&M University where she participated in the school concert choirs.

Margie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the West Point Baptist Church. She was a long time active member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she was a choir member and church soloist.

Sister Margie Nell and Rogers Sanders Jr. were married at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and to this union three beautiful, special, and unique children were born; Rogers William Sanders III, Valana Carol Sanders, and David Arthur Sanders.

As a military family they later moved to points in California, Chicago, and Texas. She returned to live in her native Galveston, TX. Sister Sanders was dedicated to and loved the Lord, family, and friends. She enjoyed pleasant surroundings and peaceful meditations. She also enjoyed quiet readings, crossword puzzles, shopping, and talking to her children and grandchildren.

The Lord called Sister Sanders home unexpectedly on Saturday August 26, 2017. She leaves memories with her children; Rodgers Sanders III (Pertrace) of Phoenix, AZ, Valana Sanders of Hansford, CA, and David Sanders of Tucson, AZ ; her grandchildren, Amayah Sanders and Ciara Sanders; siblings, Elmira Williams, Galveston, TX, Brenda Hackney, Texas City, TX, and Audrey Williams, Houston, TX; nieces, Deborah Simpson, Marie Decker, Delores Decker, and Audrey Cambre; cousins, Shirley Brown and Carol Jean Taylor; host of the Williams and Arthur families, and friends
