Sis. Juanita Hunt of the Hogans Creek Community, retired pastor of the Chestnut Mound Emmanuel Church of Christ, fell ill while attending a church conference assembly in Donelson. After telling her family she was going to her car to take insulin and not returning they found her in her car unresponsive and failing to respond to C.P.R.

Sis. Hunt was pronounced dead at the TriStar Summit Medical Center E. R. in Hermitage at 7:48 p.m. on Monday evening September 4, 2017 two days before her 88th birthday.

Funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon September 7th with Bro. Fabron Nicholson and Bishop Ronnie Banks officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Gethsemane at Smith County Memorial Gardens.

She was born Juanita Mai Bennett in the Lancaster Community on September 6, 1929 and was one of four children of the late Raymond Baxter Bennett who died at the age of 59 on September 8, 1965 and Robbie May Greer Bennett who died at the age of 53 on May 11, 1961.

A sister, Edith Marie Bennett Minchey preceded her in death on November 3, 2015 at the age of 78 as did her brothers, Otis Lee Bennett who died October 4, 1981 at the age of 48 and Willie Donald Bennett who died April 27, 1990 at the age of 55.

Sis. Hunt dedicated her life to the Lord at the age of 15.

She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson Charlie James Vinson who died at birth on October 27, 2011.

She was united in marriage in Carthage on November 22, 1946 at the age of 17 by the late Justice of the Peace H. H. White to Charlie Elvis Hunt.

Sis. Hunt retired from the dietary department at Carthage Elementary School in 1977 and her pastorate at the church where she held her membership spanned twenty two years before her retiring March 26, 1998.

Surviving in addition to her husband of almost seventy one years are their three children, Larry Hunt and wife Denise of Watertown, Christine Hunt Woodard and husband Terry of the Defeated Creek Community, Patsy Hunt Vinson and husband Jay of the Hogans Creek Community; nine grandchildren, Anthony Woodard and wife Tracy, Stacey Woodard Barnhill and husband Keven, Jennifer Woodard, Houston Hunt and wife Jennifer, Amber Phillips and husband Josh, Shannon Silcox and husband Larry, Josh Vinson, Brent Vinson and wife Amber, Rebecca Frazier and husband Brendan; ten great-grandchildren.
