Carolyn "Kay" McKnight, 77, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life Monday, September 4, 2017 at her home.
She was born December 17, 1939 to Ira and Idel (Conrad) Welch in Dewey, Oklahoma.
Kay was raised in Dewey and later moved with her family to Wheaton, Missouri where she graduated from high school. After high school she attended one year of college at Ozark Bible College.
She married Robert "Bob" McKnight on May 29, 1962 in Dewey, Oklahoma.
Kay was a devoted and faithful member of Highland Church of Christ for over 50 years. She worked as the church secretary, the church custodian and as a Teacher Assistant. Kay always enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cooking, gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the caregiver to many children and her family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Idel Welch; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Lucille Welch and Joy and Don Hucks; and brother, Wayne Welch.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 55 years, Robert "Bob" McKnight of the home; 4 sons and 4 daughters-in-law, Craig and Michelle McKnight of Shawnee, OK, Brett and Jennifer McKnight of Norman, OK, Wade and Kristal McKnight of Chickasha, OK, and Clint and Emily McKnight of Edmond, OK; 11 grandchildren, Selene and Ben Williams, Hillary and Kendall Whittington, Claire McKnight, Jeff McKnight, Riley McKnight, Brittany McKnight, Marlie McKnight, Grady McKnight, Tobie McKnight, Eli McKnight and Evie McKnight; and 3 great-grandchildren, Lucas Williams, Calvin Williams and Nolan Whittington; 3 brothers and 4 sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Welch of Telephone, TX, Gary and Darlene Welch of Sand Springs, OK, Stanley and Joyce Welch of Texarkana, TX and Linda Welch of Kearney, MO: and numerous loving friends and extended family.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 and continue through service time. Family Gathering to greet friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Highland Church of Christ with her sons, Craig, Brett, Wade and Clint McKnight officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
