David was the son of James Martin and Nellie Glenn (Brewer) Wright of Knoxville, TN. He married Sue Clabough on Sept. 8, 1951.

Wright, David K. age 71 of Maryville died at 7:10 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2001 at the family home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a lover and singer of Gospel Music singing with the Golden River Boys, The Dixie Knights, and The Gospel Tones. He was an Electronics Installer for Consolidated Electronics of Knoxville. He recently received a certificate from the Tennessee Historical Society for being a direct descendant of the first families in the state of Tennessee. Preceded in death by parents, James and Nellie Wright; brothers, Albert, Luther and Frank Wright; sisters, Mary Overton, and Blanche Redden; granddaughter, Rebekah Wright; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Susie Clabough of Townsend; brother-in-law and sister-in- law, James and Jean Clabough; brother-in-law, Luke Cornette. Survivors include wife, Sue Clabough Wright; sons and daughters-in-law, David Martin and Song Wright of Vonore, Charles and Debbie Wright of New Market; daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Kevin Kuehn of Denver, CO; daughter, Jennifer Wright of Maryville; grandchildren, Sarah and husband, Scott Chapman, Holly and husband, Joe Black, Heather and husband Travis Potter, Teresa and husband Michael Irwin, Benjamin Smith, Susan Wright, Leaha Kuehn; great grandchildren, Emma Claire Cureton, Jonah Scott Chapman, Caroline Marie Black, Emily Renea Irwin; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Bill Hutchens of Davidson, NC; sister, Francis Cinnamon of Knoxville; brothers-in-law, Carl and wife, Mary Clabough, Earl and wife, Fern Clabough, Hurst Clabough; sisters-in-law, Anna and husband, Charlie Brickey; Ola and husband, Eddie Abbott, Mary and husband, Kenneth Johnson, Helen Cornette, Bobbie Teaster. Funeral Service will be 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2001 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Guy Milam and Rev. Wilburn Hoglan officiating. Entombment will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday April 26, 2001 at Grandview Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The American Heart, Lung, or Cancer Society. Memorial donations may also be given to the Anglea Cornette Memorial Fund at Kagleys Chapel Baptist Church. Friends may call at their convenience anytime at Smith Mortuary.
