Darlene Berta Lucille "Leenie" (Leech) Murray, Murphy

Darlene Berta Lucille Leech was born at home in Mildred, Montana, to Charles Lloy "Lloy" Leech and Margarethe Sylvia Larsen. When she was a baby her parents moved to Southern California. Darlene went to the first and second grades at the Seventh-day-Adventist Church School in Hawthorne, California. The school moved, so she was sent to Grant School the local public school, in Redondo Beach, California, and attended that school through the six grade. In the seventh and eighth grades she was sent to the Seventh-day-Adventist Church School in Gardena, California. In High School she attended the Seventh-day-Adventist Lynwood Academy in Lynwood, California, graduating, in 1949. During High School and College she worked hard to help pay her tuition. During her College days she didn't start until the second semester, and with the help of very dear friends she went to Walla Walla College in the state of Washington, for 6 months. At Walla Walla she worked cleaning the music conservatory every day to help pay for her tution. Her mother wanted her closer to home so she then attended one year at La Sierra College, California. At La Sierra she worked at their food plant (where they make vegetarian meat) to help pay for her tution. She didn't care for La Sierra so she didn't return the next year.

In 1952, she met and married Carl Murray and they had three children. Carl worked for Pipe Linings and traveled all over the United States, Canada and over seas to Colombo, Ceylon (now called Sri-Lanke) and Rangoon, Burma for the A.I.D. These trips took them around the world twice. Darlene and the children traveled with him. They had been married for 30 years and 5 months when Carl quietly passed away at home.

Darlene learned to do smocking, needlepoint, crewel, embroidery, crochet, a little quilting, and best of all counted cross stitch (has done 7 portraits), also hand sewn and embroidered Christening dresses. Some of her hobbies and interests are Genealogy, Norman Rockwell, thimbles, clowns, owls, pewter figurines, decorating cakes. She also tapes true life stories form the Television. She loves to sing at home or church. She is an avid reader, and reads fiction, mysteries and autobiographies. She reads 3 to 4 books a week. For 13 years she and Carl raised, bred, trained and showed their German Shepherds. They also ran a boarding kennel.

In religion she is a Seventh-day-Adventist (SDA). She has blonde hair, green eyes, with a very light complexion and she stands 5' 5 1/2" tall.

Darlene remarried briefly after her husband Carl died, to George Murphy "Jack" who was her sister Marie Margarethe Leeches widower.
