CORNING, NY | LeVere T. Lehman, 85 years of 234 East First St. died Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at the Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan, NY following an extended illness.

He was born June 29, 1916 in Woolrich, PA the son of the late Everett & Nellie Mae Kalmbach Lehman. A lifetime resident of the area attending Painted Post School and Northside High School.

LeVere and Vivian Shepherd were married May 31, 1935 in the North Baptist Church, Corning, NY.

He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force during World War II (1942 - 45) serving as an airplane mechanic.

He was an employee for Corning Inc. working as a maching operator at A Factory retiring in 1981 with 48 years service with the company.

LeVere attended the First Baptist Church of Corning, NY, Corning VFW, American Legion John P. Eaton Post, lifetime member of NRA and AIGWU Local 1000.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vivian; daughters Joyce (James) Knapp of Corning, NY and Bonnie Tinney of Corning, NY; son Eugene (Cecelia) Lehman of Corning,NY; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers David (Jean) Lehman of Lindley, NY and Lloyd (Laura) Lehman of Hornby, NY. Also several nieces & nephews.

Friends may call at the Haughey Funeral Home, 216 E. First St., Corning, NY, Saturday, October 20, 2001 from 3-6 pm. Funeral & Committal Services will follow at 6 pm. at the funeral home, Rev. Jerrie Matney, pastor of the Firsts Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at the Coopers Plains Cemetery, Coopers Plains, NY.
