Mr. Chapman was born in Dansville, NY, the son of the late Ralph Leon Chapman and Irene Mary Pfuntner Chapman. Terry moved to Raleigh in 1987. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam on the USS Kitty Hawk. Terry was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Jackson Hose Company of Dansville, NY, as well as for the Canaseraga Fire Department of Canaseraga, NY, where he also served as Department Secretary. He was a past Volunteer Auxiliary Policeman in Canaseraga. Terry was a past member and former Sergent at Arms, First Vice Commander, and Commander of the American Legion Post 1248 in Arkport, NY; past member and former Vice Commander of Amercian Legion Post 232 in Garner, NC; and current member of American Legion Post 0436 in Fuquay-Varina, NC. He was a past member and on the Initial Founders Team of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Dansville, NY. He was a past member of Vietnam Veterans MC in LeRoy, NY. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Dansville, NY. Also, Terry was a past member of Conesus Lake Riders Motorcycle Club in NY. He was a past member of Civil War reenactment groups and belonged to the 13th North Carolina Company B Artillery and, previous to that, a member of 13th North Carolina Company A Infantry. He is a current member with 34 years standing of the Harley Owners Group. He was predeceased by his brothers Ralph, Duane, and Howard Chapman.
Terry is survived by his daughter, Bobby Lin Chapman, grandchildren Brendan M Wacenske, Brianna L Wacenske, all of Bath NY, and other loving family and friends.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. Officiating will be Mike Ramsey, from the American Legion. A visitation will be held, Monday, September 4, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
