Margaret was born the fourth of six children to Michael and Catherine (Diamond) Flaherty in Washington Depot, CT. Margaret left home for the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1922. She met her future husband, Patrick Kelly, who was a bus driver for the Connecticut Railway and Lighting Company in Bridgeport. They were married on August 3, 1946 at St. Maurice Church in Stamford, CT. Margaret continued to work as a nurse and lived on Dover Street with her husband until her death. She died of a heart attack during her sleep on Christmas Eve, 1961. Funeral Services were held at St. Ambrose Church in Bridgeport, CT.
