Louise M. Malecek, age 91, of Hutchinson, formerly of Delano, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at the Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Clergy officiating: Father Jerry Meidl; organist: Bev Wangerin; special music: Bobbi Ludewig; Urn Bearers: Louise’s sons, Butch Malecek, Ted Malecek, Dave Malecek, Mike Malecek, Steve Malecek, Jon Malecek.
Louise Mary Malecek was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Lidgerwood, ND, the daughter of Effner and Myrtle (Riba) Bailey.
Louise was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her youth, both at St. Martin of Tours in Geneseo, ND.
She received her elementary education in North Dakota and was a 1943 graduate of the Willmar High School in Willmar.
Louise was united in marriage to Edward V. Malecek at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lake Lillian April 28, 1945. After their marriage, the couple resided in Lake Lillian, Danube, Blomkest, Willmar, and Delano.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Louise moved to Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson Nov. 4, 2015.
Louise was a loving mother and homemaker. Louise and Edward shared 67 years of marriage before Edward passed away Dec. 31, 2012.
Louise was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, and the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Louise enjoyed cooking, camping, playing cards, sewing and embroidery. She cherished the time she spent with her family. Louise had a special glean in her eyes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Louise passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at the Woodstone Senior Living in Hutchinson at the age of 91 years. Blessed be her memory.
Louise is survived by her:
Children, Jacquelyn (Larry) Smith of Hutchinson, Edward Jr. (Martha) Malecek of Delano, Theodore (Margie) Malecek of Elizabethtown, KY, Mary (Alan) Spears of Broken Arrow, OK, Jean (Don) Hayes of Montrose, David Malecek and his special friend, Laureen Petersen of Delano, Terese (Daryl) Foss of Elk River, Michael Malecek of Delano, Steven (Hisae) Malecek of Alameda, CA, and Jon (Patty) Malecek of Maple Plain; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Malecek; daughter, Patricia Malecek-Rademacher; grandson, Christopher Smith; parents, Effner and Myrtle Bailey; three brothers; and two sisters.
The family invites everyone to the luncheon at the church immediately following the service.
