Marjorie "Midge" Lou Phillips, 87, of Russell, died Sunday, September 3, 2017, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House of Warren, PA. Marjorie was born October 13, 1929, in Russell , PA. She was the daughter of the late Howard LaVern and Gladys Rhea (Phillips) Ramsdell. A lifelong area resident of Russell, Marjorie graduated from Russell High School in 1947. In her youth, she and her twin sister, Margaret, were part of a balance ball act for local stage shows. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Marjorie leaves a legacy of grace and prayer. She will always be remembered for her excellent peanut butter fudge, her hospitality, and the love and devotion she had for her family and friends. Her mission in life was to minister to all those she came into contact with and she did that with her whole heart. In 1970, she and her husband joined the First Church of the Nazarene in Warren. Together, they enjoyed traveling throughout the years and served as missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Ecuador in 1974. Through life's challenges, Marjorie remained optimistic and served as a wonderful role model to her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Willis "Bill" M. Phillips, whom she married November 19, 1950, in Frewsburg, NY; and four children–Randy Phillips, and wife, Rachel, of Warren, Brenda Glasby, and husband, Pat, of Yorba Linda, CA; Julie Curtis, and husband, Jay, of Sugar Grove, and Jon Phillips, and wife, Wendi, of Elyria, OH; thirteen grandchildren–Ryan, Scott, Russell and Riley Phillips, Grayson, Zachary and Molly Glasby, Jayson, Justin, Jacoby and Jameson Curtis, Preston and Mallory Phillips; 24 great grandchildren; and several nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Anderson, Margaret Granquist and Lorna Mack; a brother in infancy; an infant granddaughter, Renee Phillips, and a nephew. Friends were received at the First Church of the Nazarene, Warren, on Thursday, September 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time, a funeral service was held there with Rev. J. Maier, pastor, officiating. A private burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
