Ellen was married twice. She first married Thomas Jefferson Kimble on March 12, 1874 in Sevier Co., Arkansas. After his death, she married John W. Cleaver on Feb. 17, 1881 in Howard Co., Arkansas.
Most census records show her name as "Ellen" however she also was listed as "Ellender" on some of them. Her name was "Ellender Francis" on the 1880 Arkansas Census, Howard Co., Brewer Township, where she & her small son George Kimble were listed with Ellen's brother Ervin Skaggs & his family. Ellen was the widow of Thomas J. Kimble at this time. The census taker incorrectly wrote her full name down as "Ellender Francis" and it was transcribed with Ellender as the surname.
